More than six hundred years of living history

Our history

The first records found of the house date back to 1306, when it was called Can Cabrit. The first documented member is Arnau Call, who married Provença, and together they started the Call lineage.

Arnau Call died in 1340. Around 1400, Joan de la Call married Elisabet Solà, daughter of Pere Solà, who was the Lord of Odèn. They lived in Odèn Castle. Generations have passed, and to this day, the family continues to live in the ancestral home of Call d’Odèn. The house dates back to the 13th century and consists of three floors, each 400 m². In the stables, located on the ground floor, lived the animals that provided warmth to the family’s living quarters and to the workers who lived on the first floor. The third floor, or attic, housed the pantries and granaries. Today, the family lives on the first floor, and the animals are kept in corrals outside the house.

Since the 14th century, the family has lived in the ancestral home of Call d’Odèn, maintaining the Call surname for over eighteen generations. Traditionally, the estate’s activity has been linked to pasture livestock farming and forestry, utilizing the resources of the forest and the old sawmills near the river.

Today, we continue to sell wood and dedicate part of the forest to biomass production, which fuels our wood chip boilers to heat the rural houses, homes, and farms, thus closing the circle of rural sustainability: from the forest to the comfort of our homes.

In 1996, we started rural tourism by adapting part of the farmhouse and restoring the old hayloft to create the Allotjaments del Call d’Odèn, in the heart of Solsonès, at an altitude of 1,350 m. Later, the Planes house and Racó de la Guita were restored, all integrated into nature, adapted for people with reduced mobility, and pet-friendly.

The family remains involved in forestry and pasture cattle farming. We are deeply grateful to all the people who visit us and help us improve every day.
